What is ROUTN?
ROUTN organises your skin, scalp and hair routine around the products you already own, reminds you to follow it, and keeps consistent progress photos so you can compare over time. An AI Coach answers questions about your own routine and can suggest changes you approve.
Is ROUTN a medical service?
No. ROUTN is a general personal-care, grooming and routine-tracking app. It is not a medical device and does not provide medical advice, diagnosis or treatment.
Does ROUTN diagnose skin conditions?
No. A skin check-in describes visible characteristics — oiliness, dryness, blemishes, redness, texture, pores and tone — at four qualitative levels, and says which part of the face each relates to. It never names a condition and never claims certainty from a photograph.
Can ROUTN tell me whether I am going bald?
No, and it will not try. Hair tracking exists to make photographs taken weeks apart genuinely comparable, so you can see for yourself. ROUTN does not measure hair density, estimate a probability, or predict what will happen. If you are worried about hair loss, a qualified healthcare professional is the right place to go.
How does skin tracking work?
You take one clear photo, ideally in the same light and at the same distance each time. ROUTN describes what is visible, notes what the photo could not show, and turns it into routine suggestions. The default cadence is about every two weeks.
How does hair tracking work?
ROUTN guides you through five positions — front hairline, left temple, right temple, top and crown — with framing guidance for each. Before comparing two photos it checks whether they are actually comparable and tells you when lighting or distance limits the comparison.
How often should I take progress photographs?
About every two weeks. If you try to check in much sooner, ROUTN will explain that consistent check-ins over time are far more useful than daily ones — it will not stop you, but it will be honest that the two photos will probably look the same.
Are my photographs private?
Yes. Photos are stored in a private bucket, are never given a public URL, and are only ever shown to you through short-lived signed links. Access is enforced at the database and storage layer, not just in the app.
Are my photographs used to train AI?
No. ROUTN does not use your photographs to train general-purpose AI models. A photo is sent to the AI provider only to run the analysis you asked for. Changing this would require a policy change, a fresh lawful basis and your consent — not a quiet update.
How do I delete my photos?
In the app: Settings → Privacy & Data. You can delete your skin photos, your hair photos, or individual check-ins. Photos taken for a single analysis and not saved to a timeline are deleted automatically once the analysis is done.
How do I delete my account?
In the app: Settings → Privacy & Data → Delete Account & Data. You can also request deletion from this website without the app.
Can I use my existing products?
That is the point. ROUTN is built around the products already in your bathroom. Scan them or add them by hand, and it works out where each one belongs. If what you own already covers the basics, it says so.
Does ROUTN recommend products?
It recommends categories, not purchases. If your routine is missing a basic moisturiser, it says a moisturiser is missing — not which one to buy. If we ever introduce named recommendations, sponsored or affiliate placements will be clearly labelled and will never change what we suggest.
How does the AI Coach work?
When you ask something, ROUTN works out what kind of question it is and retrieves only the data that question needs — your routine, your products, your check-in dates. It tells you which of those it used. It is never sent your photographs during a conversation.
Can the Coach change my routine?
Only with your explicit approval. The Coach can propose a change; you see the exact before and after and press Apply or Keep Current Routine. There is no code path where the Coach writes to your routine on its own.
How does ROUTN Pro work?
Pro is a monthly or annual subscription bought through the App Store or Google Play. It unlocks the AI Coach, your full progress history, hair comparison summaries, routine suggestions and a monthly allowance of skin, hair and product scans. UK prices are on the pricing page; the app shows the exact price for your country before you buy. A one-off scan pack is also sold, with or without Pro.
How do I cancel my subscription?
In your App Store or Google Play account settings, at least 24 hours before the current period ends. Deleting your ROUTN account does not cancel the subscription — you need to cancel it in the store.
How do I contact support?
Use the contact form on this website. Every request gets a reference number. Please do not send photographs of your skin or scalp through the support form — we do not need them and would rather not receive them by email.
